몇 달 전에는 80년대 노래에 푹 빠져 있었는데, 90년대에도 좋은 곡들이 많은 듯... VH1의 선정 기준이 뭔지는 모르겠는데, 한국인 입맛에는 안 맞는 노래들도 꽤 있는 듯. 요즘 지하철에서 파는 올드 팝 베스트 씨디에는 80년대 이전 노래들이 많은데, 아마 미국인 기준으로 보면 '듣보잡' 노래들이 꽤 될 거다. 앞으로 20년 뒤에 지하철에서 그런 팝송 베스트 씨디를 판다면(그때도 씨디가 있다면, 그때도 지하철 세일즈맨들이 있다면 말이다), 그 씨디에는 어떤 곡들이 수록되어 있을까? 모르긴 몰라도 미국 쪽 선정기준과 비슷해져 있지 않을까? 입맛이 세계화되듯, '귀맛'(이런 말이 있다면)도 세계화되어 있을 거다. 오해 말기를. 요즘 세계화란 '미국화'와 동의어이니 이 추세대로 간다면 그렇지 않을까 하는 말이다.
